Series of portraits of 10 Peruvian artists currently living and working in the UK. The portraits were exhibited alongside each artist's work in the interdisciplinary group exhibition APUK#1 at the British-Peruvian Centre in Lima. May-June 2024.
The exhibition highlights the fact of displacement and the construction of systems of representation in which categories such as identity and culture take shape”
“Photographer Facundo Bustamante settles in the creation spaces of each of the APUK#1 artists to create an author’s documentation that seeks to delve into their production processes, exploring details that suggest relevant information about their works and their own corporality. ...
Using traditional photographic techniques, the images that Bustamante projects - (the more abstract second set of pictures) - investigate the impact of light on shapes. Without resorting to post-production effects and playing with the shutter speed from the same photographic device, this documentation gives rise to a more abstract and fluid representation, in which the figure of the artist prevails in all expressive freedom and creative capacity. “
